About Augusto Perera Esq.

Augusto Perera, Esq. is of-counsel with Ser & Associates, handling all of the firm’s intellectual property work. Augusto regularly assists businesses with licensing, Internet law,  copyright protection, and litigation, domain name disputes, and protection, domestic and international trademark protection.

Augusto practices before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and also litigates in federal and state courts. Augusto attended Shepard Broad College of Law and received his Juris Doctor degree in 2014. Before that Augusto graduated from Havana University Law School in 1997 with a Juris Doctor Degree.

Started working at the Cuban Industrial Property Office (OCPI) immediately thereafter as Solicitor in the Legal Department. With law degrees from the two main legal systems in the world, Mr. Perera understands the contrasts between common and civil laws, and the challenges they present to our clients.

He is an active member in numerous legal organizations including the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Cuban American Bar Association (Director 2019-2021, Co-Chair CLE Committee), and the South Miami-Kendall Bar Association (President 2020-2021).

About Gloria Burns

A University of  Florida graduate with a major in Spanish, Burns has an extensive background in advertising, marketing and reciprocal trade, travel as well as nonprofit consulting and management. Active in many nonprofits, she received numerous awards across the community including most recently nominated by So. Fla. PBS  as an unsung hero. Burns had her own Cruise only travel agency and closed that to pursue her passion and accept leadership roles with nonprofits.

She has served as Executive Director of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee and was the first executive director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.  After 14 years, she then accepted the same role with the Pinecrest Community Foundation which she helped set up before going to work working full time for Community Newspapers.

As a PR and Marketing Representative, columnist and show host,  her list of current nonprofit responsibilities include serving on the boards of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club and Ambassador for A Safe Haven for Newborns.  She chairs a monthly fundraiser for the Coral Gables Woman’s Club called Gringo Bingo at Clutch Burger which has raised more than $20,000 since March 2019  for a dozen or more charities.

Gloria is also an active member of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she sings in the choir.  She is involved in several other civic organizations.  Her Gloria’s Gab columns run in 6 different Community Newspapers and her Facebook Live Show, entitled Gloria’s Gab LIVE,  airs every Monday morning at 10 a.m.   She can be reached at 305 968-3090 or via email: gloria@cnews.net.

February 1st Luncheon @ 94th Aero Squadron! Maggie Abdo-Gomez, Esq. will be presenting!

Some of you haven’t been around for a while, and we’d love to see you on Thursday, the 1st. As a matter of fact, we need to see you there. We will have quite a few invited guests, so let’s show up for them. What time of year is it? Yep, it’s tax time. Maggie Abdo-Gomez, Esq. will be presenting about dealing with your favorite government agency, the IRS.  For those who don’t know, Maggie defends individuals and companies in IRS cases and used to be an attorney for the IRS. So, she probably knows a thing or two about them. See you on Thursday!
